I recently read an article on unemployment in the Midwest. Did you know, according to Salary.com, the Midwest unemployment rate .9 percent less than the national rate? North Dakota’s unemployment rate was even better coming in at 3 percent unemployment. The article goes on to show that states like Nevada are at 11.7 percent unemployment.

North Dakota is often a forgotten state. We have so much to offer that I can’t believe why. We have a booming economy, low unemployment rate and we are known for being friendly. Who wouldn’t want to live here?

The economy is booming but we have more to offer. North Dakota not only has a great economy but we have new and different employment opportunities. A great source for information on job opportunities in North Dakota is http://www.experience.nd.gov/work/jobs/. This site will link you to the North Dakota Legendary website. On this site you will find a listing of career opportunities within North Dakota. You can then sort the list by city or workplace.

Another great resource to find more information on career opportunities in North Dakota is the North Dakota Job Service website (https://www.ndworkforceconnection.com/vosnet/Default.aspx). This site allows you to view job openings in North Dakota and search by city, zip code, and surrounding areas. Job openings in North Dakota are not limited to the oilfields as many people believe. We have many different career opportunities in fields like construction, financial, business and professional services. Below is a chart depicting the labor market in North Dakota:

This chart shows the many different options for career advancement in North Dakota. I was surprised to see how high the government numbers were. I was not surprise to see there are so many individuals working in the educational and health services field. Sanford in Fargo just built a brand new hospital. The new hospital alone adds a great number of part-time and full-time staff.
