Recruiting in the Midwest

One of the greatest parts of living in the Midwest is our low unemployment rates. Almost every business I drive by has a “Now Hiring” sign in the window. From a Human Resources standpoint, we need to get people to the Midwest to work for us. In what ways could we do this?

RECRUITING! We could actively recruit in places where there is a need for jobs. We could send recruiters or job information to people who live in places like Nevada or Rhode Island where they may need more job opportunities.

Recruiting is a great way to get your company name, information, and job opportunities out into the country. My roommate does recruiting for her company Fast Enterprises. They go to college career fairs, cold call, and actively recruit. This helps their business grow substantially.

There are many great colleges in North

Dakota or the surrounding states that would have many great candidates for our job openings. By actively recruiting from college campuses the recruits will have less experience but what they lack in experience they could make up for with new and different ways of completing your company’s tasks.

Cold calling or ‘cold emailing’ could be another great way to get your company’s name out to job seekers. Sending emails could be less time consuming and easier by using email threads to different target groups.

Actively recruiting means putting time, effort, and man power in to finding individuals to fill your open positions. This could mean doing what I listed above or finding different creative ways to recruit. Turning to the web to recruit for your company can be a smart investment for your company. Almost every company already has a website so why not add a page to recruit new individuals?

Recruiting is always a good thing when you have open positions. Whether you actively recruit or passively recruit this will help you fill your open positions and find the individuals you are looking for.
